International Tandem Rally 2006 - 1

We went to the Tandem Club International Rally at Recreatiepark Hengelhoef, Houthalen, Limburg, Belgium.  We left Ann behind and took Megan Davies with us instead.  We drove over and used the Norfolk Line route from Dover to Dunkerque, and the girls are seen relaxing on the ferry.

In addition to the "Team Girlie" flag, Ceri-Siân made a set of three "Team Girlie" tee shirts - the front view.

The rear view - Ceri and Megan had a pink pig sown on the front and rear, with the back end of the pig complete with tail.  I just had "Team Girlie - Honorary Member" on the back of mine.  This is the only time we all wore them together.  The girls did not want to be associated with me wearing mine.

Sunday afternoon at a "Fietscafé".  A nice orderly row of cycles parked in the cycle racks.  Note the sign above the café in the shape of a bike.

The "Fietsroutenetwerk Limburg" is mapped out as a series if junctions which are numbered.  These are then linked with sign posted routes to the adjacent points.  The sign above warns that Point 05 is being approached.

At point 05 the sign then gives directions to the next adjacent points only.  To go long distances one has to determine the intermediate points and follow the signs in turn, ie "cycling by numbers" or as somebody put it "route sheet bingo" as the route for the ride on the Thursday was as follows: 74, 79, 71, 91, 95, 94, 302, 301, 300, 79, 74.
